How to Apply for an Ordinary Passport in India?

Indian Nationals can Apply for a Passport or Renew their expired Passport through Online and Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) on the appointment date for taking Photo and Verification Purpose with Original and Copies of required documents.

How to Apply for an Ordinary Passport in India?

Online Form Submission

Visit the Website https://passportindia.gov.in/

Click on New User Registration

Fill the Form with details like Passport Office, Given Name, Surname, Date of Birth, E-Mail, Login ID, Password, Hint Question, Answer and Captcha and click on Register.

You will receive an E-Mail with Confirmation of Registration. Click on the Link and confirm your Registration.

Next visit https://www.passportindia.gov.in/

Click on Existing User Login and Enter your Login Id and click on Continue

Once Login Click on "Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport" link. 

You could apply for a Fresh Passport only if you never held a Passport of the applied category (i.e., Ordinary Passport, Diplomatic Passport or Official Passport) in the past.

If your Ordinary Passport is expired, you can Renew it using the Link Re-issue for Passport

Fill in the required details in the form and submit.

Click the "Pay and Schedule Appointment" link on the "View Saved/Submitted Applications" screen to schedule an appointment.

Online Payment has been made mandatory for booking appointments at all PSK/POPSK/PO.

Online Payment modes:

• Credit / Debit Card (Master Card / Visa)
• Internet Banking (State Bank of India (SBI) Associate Banks and Other Banks)
• SBI Bank Challan

An SMS with your appointment details will be send to your Mobile Number which is accepted as proof of appointment during your visit to Passport Office. and carrying printout of Application Receipt is not required.

Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/Regional Passport Office (RPO) where appointment has been booked, along with original documents.

Kids below 4 years need to bring Passport Size Photo (4.5 X 3.5 cm) with white background while visiting the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) / Regional Passport Office (RPO).

Only Emergency / Medical cases and preapproved categories may visit Passport Seva Kendra without appointment. 

Resubmission of application form is required; in case the applicant does not visit the Passport Seva Kendra within 90 days from the online form submission.

Minor

For Passport for Minors consent of both parents should be required, unless specified.

For minor applicants, present address proof document in the name of parent(s) can be submitted.

Need to carry original and self-attested copies of parent's passport to Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), in case parents possess passport.

For minor applicants, documents can be attested by parents.

The minor applicant is eligible for Non ECR till he / she attains the age of 18 years
